Maillot jaune (pronounced [majo ʒoːn]) is the jersey worn by the current overall leader of many bicycle races, originally and most notably the Tour de France. It is French for "yellow jersey." It allows the rider who was in the overall lead at the end of the previous day to be easily identified during the race.

Flight back to Singapore December 13th. Finish with my BSc Sports Science degree @ Edith Cowan University.
Cycling has been on certain highs and lows this year. I'm looking forward to starting training again for 2007.
National MTB championships has been a 4 weeks major intensive race that I had prepared for, looking back I got a flat and a broken chain and had to fight the challenges, I was reminded that it was not my strength on the 7/10 lap, suddenly I had to pray and ask God for help! I ran that 1 full lap like a 100 meters sprint when my chain broke, it took me 5 minutes to fix my chain and 2 guys passed me. I will never forget that experience after fixing my chain and all fired up to chase down the leaders, thankfully I had Lippy and Rebecca to help out, and most of all Asma and Winson who picked up and removed the bad link and provided me with a chain breaker tool.
2 more exam papers to go today and tomorrow evening...
Thank God for your dayCurrent Mood: thankful

I've just figured out how to upload multiple photos with my iBook. I'll see if I can link them into the blog. Should be some pretty interesting pics of racing!

I'm back in Perth. Started school and into the second week now. I've got 10 assignments and loads of training to catch up on.
We went to Pemberton Classic, 300km south of Perth for a weekend race. Manage to clinch 3rd for the B grade Crit, and 4th for the Road race.
Did a Vo2 Max test just now at the lab, 5 minutes protocol 50watts, 315watts.
Lots of aerobic fitness to get back together.
I've shifted to Glendalough, its 5 minutes drive to town. That means more group rides for me!Current Mood: blah Current Music: Peel Me a Grape-Diana Krall-Love Scenes

» just as it takes hard work
I'm struck here for the past 10 days doing my motor skills assignment.. Its hard work that gets me the marks that I strive for.. I guess I look at things the way I do with my training and racing. I call it perfection.
27 Nov a date to remember and count down to, thats the date for the sea games mtb event
meanwhile i'll juggle the stress of school and training better than last semester..
I'll be moving house to 59 Lakeside Dr, just a stone throw away from school.
ATTA is having a mtb time trial this weekend will be turning up for that one.. Came in last on Sunday's MTB race in the elite cat. realised my seatpost dropped, and couldn't even keep up on the first lap, what a bummer.

got a bit of a sore throat when i woke up yesterday... immune system down
bonked on wednesday when i went out for my 2 hr ride, although i had gels in my pocket i didn't use them... with the new stress of school blah blah blah coupled with my 2 HIT training that i did @ Gooseberry Hill, training has been good
Training has to tone down till I recover.
borrowed like tons of books from the lib about Fundamental Movement Patterns in Childhood Development, its for my assignment, reading and bookmarking them.
i've realised that Subiaco Market and City is indeed a very charming place compaired to Perth City, coffee joints and small shops.
Enjoying Norah Jones album, weather here averages at 21 degrees C mid day.

» HIT and vomitting
I clearly remember training with Mr X (don't want to name anyone) at Kent ridge hill, our 12 sets of intervals resulted in 6 vomitting sessions, that I will never forget. Did my long HIT(High Intensity Interval Training) at Gooseberry hill with my MTB on wednesday, started to cough due to the dry air, am not sure if I've pushed the right intensity, it'll be good to use the SRM. Endurance 2hrs zone 1-2. So far I've got 2 assignments, 2 more to come. Its gona get busy very soon, planning ahead to submit my reports early. Have to give it a really good balance of trainining and studies.
Just came back from the library, had to do my readings for my 3rd year module Biomechanics 2. Theres someone's birthday party downstairs, everyone there is cross dressed. While I'm cooking my sea food fried rice for 3 more meals it'll be stored in the freedge.
I decided, won't be going to Bail for the MTB ACC in Aug. Instead the Pre Sea games in September, and the MTB nationals, of course the SEA games as well in November. 36km Mens Elite Cross Country Mountain Bike.
thats all for now, sam

Sunday will be back to Perth, winter is ending. I'd say that the 5 weeks spent home was great training. Weather here is perfect for training. Spending the rest of this week prepairing for my departure for Perth.
No more easy food, back to cooking every meal for myself. No more free time to do the things I like, its back to balancing both my studies and training.
I do enjoy the driving back in Perth, going for the road races and getting smacked in their A grades. Always looking forward to their races.
WEDNESDAY THERE WILL BE A TALK AT SSC @ 7.30PM on CREATINE and on BIOMECHANICS, Frankie will be giving the talk.
Rebecca took part in her first SACA ITT, heh, on day she'll kick my arse for sure.

» a race of truth
24th July, ITT held at coastal 3 laps. Start time at 10.26am
I just shaved my legs in months. Its a funny affair about me shaving and winning the tour of siam orange jersey, on the other hand when I won my MTB race in Penang my legs were very hairy. Well yesterday was just one of the days that I had to make everything right before the race. Its simple, if you want to do something, do it good. I just had to borrow my wheels and helmet, shave my legs, go through the whole mental preparation of a time trial. Pacing was very imporant, no speedometer, HRM, just focusing on a few simple things, your body's amount of lactic acid, and the white lines on the road, still learning for my mistakes. Not yet on top form for my coming peak in mid-Aug.
well its my first time trial that I've won locally with lots of motivation and focus. I have to give God the glory, his strength, thank you!
regards, Sam

» ITT and the Tour de France
Tomorrows the start of the Individual time trial held at coastal. Named the race of truth, really need to be very focus throughout the whole 3 laps. Time is usually lost when there is an uneven pacing of any of the laps. Although not everyone will be able to use a disc wheel, this gives an unfair advantage, it saves significant time.
Form drag = Pressure difference of the front and back of an object, minimised by having a tear drop shape. Friction drag = Surface drag when the air contacts with the object, minimised by having a smooth texture. Wave drag = Happens on the water.
Heres Perth's time trail association http://www.atta.asn.au
Lance is leading the GC with 2.47 to Ivan Basso. I wonder who will be the next leader for the TDF...
I've more or less settled my MTB sponsorship for the SEA games. Pre-SEA games coming up in September, a chance to test out the track.

» iBook G4
I can't believe it! My iBook that is just 1 year and a few days old couldn't start on my yesterday morning! I was sold to apple but going down to Funan yesterday and discovering that it was a motherboard problem and it costs $800-$1000, having second thoughts about it.
I need another bike, full suspension, something like the trek top fuel that has 80mm of travel and will be good for XC racing. My trek 8500 has been with me since the last sea games and its needs a bit of loving care at the moment. UCI rules have changed, a rider is able to change and part of the bike without the help from outside assistance, having a choice of a hardtail and a full suspension does make a difference. Read a few journals published by the Japon, their riders for the past 2 years of the Asian MTB championships 2003 and 2004 have been using the Top Fuel for racing.
I just checked my results! Thank you God, Foundations of Sports Science 82% Sports Biomechanics 1 80% Sports Science Applications 1 82% Care and Prevention of Injuries 69% 3 of them are High Dist and 1 Credit missed by 1%
This year's Bail Asian MTB championships are on the 21st Aug. Its my first minor peak of the year. Second peak will be the SEA games on the 30th November.
now should I get that iPod photo second generation?hmm apple?
